Paired reading Mr. Maguire's 5th Class and Ms. Faherty's 2nd Class
Ballyroan Library have lots of events on this month . Click here to view their Monthly Newsletter.
In the school we are trying to focus on reading. Here are some of the things 6th class are currently doing to promote and encourage reading:
# Sell A Book
The Book Fair
# Sell A Book This is where we write Tweets which are 50 words or less to encourage others to read our recommended books. Doing this, children read books and write recommendation about their book so everyone can see it and find a new book to read. We hope this will promote reading and help children find new books to enjoy.
The Book Fair Coming up in the school we have The Book Fair. It is taking place while the parent teacher meetings are going on. Good condition second-hand books can be donated. They will then be sold in the book fair and can be read and enjoyed by other children. The money raised will go to our school library to buy new books. Please feel free to visit the book fair and donate unwanted books.
Readathon The Readathon is a reading competition taking place between the 6th classes. Each class has their own book shelf outside their classroom so anytime anyone reads a book, they design the spine of the book and put it on the bookshelf. The class with the most books read by Christmas gets a prize.
