Green Flag Inspection
Global Citizenship Litter and Waste Update
Our Green School Committee is preparing for our 6th Green Flag Assessment on March 9th 2017.
Thank you to the children and the parents for promoting and supporting our battery and mobile phone collections.
Please keep the batteries coming. Every class blue battery box is worth 5 euro to LauraLynn (Ireland's Children's Hospice).
WEEE Ireland recently congratulated St. Colmcille’s as we are running one of the most successful battery recycling programmes in Ireland. We have collected 397 Kg of batteries over the past nine months!
We also hope to collect enough mobile phones, to get a free projector for the hall. We currently have 130. We need at least 350! Autism Action benefits from your generosity. Please ask your neighbours, relatives, colleagues and friends to collect on our behalf.
The heats of The Green School Song Contest will take place in late February.
Fifth and sixth class children are invited to produce songs based on the Global Citizenship theme. The theme for the third and fourth class songs is Litter and Waste. The entry forms with the rules will be distributed soon.
The Green Committee is considering organising the first St. Colmcille’s International Day. We would like to celebrate the wide range of countries and cultures represented by the families in our school.
Parents, if you would like to help in any way with the development of this initiative, please contact Mrs. O’ Gara. We would love to hear from you.
