About St.
Colmcille's |
Welcome to our school web site. St. Colmcille's S.N.S. (Senior National School) is a Catholic, Co-Educational Senior Primary School located in the South Dublin suburb of Knocklyon, Dublin 16. We cater for boys and girls who attend 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th classes usually aged 8 - 13 years. Our sister school, St. Colmcille's J.N.S. (Junior National School) on the same campus enrols children from 4 to 8 years. St. Colmcille's Junior School pupils then automatically transfer to our Senior School.
Our school was established in 1976 to cater for the school going population of the then newly established parish of Knocklyon.
Over the intervening 30 years St. Colmcille's Senior and Junior National Schools have developed a reputation for academic excellence combined with a very strong rounded education. Our school has a very well established sporting reputation with our school teams, boys and girls to the forefront every year in the Cumann na mBunscoil (Dublin Primary Schools Competitions). We are the current holders of the Division one title for Boy's Gaelic Football and also for Camogie. P.E. is an integral and highly valued curricular area in our school with a teaching staff who appreciate the importance of P.E. in the life of our pupils. In addition to the focus on Gaelic Games, our pupils also undertake Irish Dancing (3rd Class), Badminton (4th Class), Swimming (3rd and 5th Class), Tag Rugby (6th Class) and there are after school Gymnastics classes.

Our School Choir, Grúpa Tradisiúnta (Traditional Music Group) and Contemporary Band provide huge opportunities for our budding young musicians and singers. Our school has a tradition of participating in Corfhéíle na Scoileanna, Coirm and other initiatives.

Our Visual Arts programme encompasses all the strands of the Primary School Curriculum - painting, drawing, construction, fabric/fibre and our Annual Art Exhibition of pupils' work is an established feature of school life. Great emphasis is placed on the attractive display of pupils work.
